The three best restaurants to visit right now
This list includes the best three restaurants right now. However we are going to dazzle you and suggest you visit each one for a separate course. A journey of food, a gastronomic adventure.
We are delighted to showcase our top three culinary journey for starters, mains and dessert.
Start at Zen Restaurant and Bar
This hotspot has to be one of Jozi’s best additions. It is brand spanking new and romance is certainly in the air. With mouthgasmic dishes, mesmerising skyline views and city inspired aesthetics. This spot is flawless!
#HelloRecommends: visit for cocktails even better for sundowners and marvel at the gloaming sunset sky. Start with a G&T made perfectly and make your way down the menu to order their vegan salad to start and the grilled wagyu bao bun with spiced sesame and soy slaw. The menu is not only expertly crafted and appealing but it’s a fun one too. Their dishes pop with a bracing tantalising essence.
Top Tip: Fancy a boogie? Visit on a Friday or Saturday evening as there is epic music.
Relish in main course at Truffles On The Park
This botanical bistro is utterly marvelous. The feng shui of this restaurant is spot on. Expect casual dining but in sophisticated form. By day or night this space is spectacular.
#HelloRecommends: Continuing the gin train with a heavenly Hendricks and fresh cucumber, our favourite. Then order their delicious and perfectly balanced haloumi burger or the chicken burger for carnivores. Plus their chips are out of this world perfection.
Top tip: You can sit downstairs on their private beach area or dine on the deck with endless views of the magical Mushroom Park.
Indulge in dessert at Qunu
Qunu inside the legendary Saxon Hotel is a city standout and is full of hits. This is one of the most stunning dining spots in the city. Yes it is a five star restaurant (in our books) and if we could we would give them a Michelin-Star.
#HelloRecommends: You’ve likely dipped deep into your pockets for this dessert but it is oh so worth it. Actually we were even thinking of ordering a second helping. A texture amplifying sweet experience. The Dulcey, Tonka and Caramel is a splurge at R270 but this delicate choux puff pastry with tonka bean custard, dulcey chocolate mousse, shortbread crumble and a seductive caramel sauce is out of this world. They also offer four beautiful vegan dessert options and a specifically curated vegan menu.
Top tip: Go on a food and wine pairing journey and experience their decadent five course menu. Expertly prepared and paired with care by their sommeliers.
