Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard is about to welcome a new name in luxury living. Opening December 2025, The Cole is the latest five-star boutique hotel from the acclaimed Kove Collection, known for curating some of the city’s most distinctive destinations. Located at 1 Church Road in Sea Point, this ocean-facing retreat promises a blend of modern indulgence and laid-back elegance.

“Designed for both the international traveller and the local connoisseur of luxury, this vibrant social hub will blend modern luxury with the distinctive character that defines every Kove Collection property,” says Paul Kovensky, Founder and Managing Director of Kove Collection.

This property will offer a sanctuary for the sun seeker – the traveller with a love for both ocean and city.

Where City Energy Meets Ocean Calm

With 60 suites overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and framed by Table Mountain, The Cole captures the essence of Cape Town’s dual personality — cosmopolitan energy and coastal calm. It’s a space designed for those who want to wake to sea breezes and step directly into the city’s rhythm.

“This property will offer a sanctuary for the sun seeker – the traveller with a love for both ocean and city,” explains Kovensky. “We’ve created The Cole as a space to welcome this guest – somewhere where bold design meets effortless luxury, and where they can feel completely at ease while enjoying the very best in hospitality and location.”

Guests can expect more than just a stay — The Cole is an immersion in Cape Town’s lifestyle. “Just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, our guests will instantly immerse themselves in the serene and scenic Sea Point promenade,” shares Kovensky, referencing the city’s accolades as Best City in the World by Time Out Media and Best City in the World for Food by Condé Nast Traveler.

Script: A Cocktail Bar that Tells a Story

At the heart of the hotel lies Script, a lobby cocktail bar that promises to turn mixology into an art form. Every drink is inspired by a “chapter” in a guest’s story — a creative nod to memory and mood. It’s an intimate space where flavour, aroma, and emotion intertwine — ideal for unwinding after a day on the promenade or beginning an evening out in the Mother City.

Rooftop Dining with Mediterranean Soul

Eight floors up, Figo brings a fresh energy to Cape Town’s dining scene. With sweeping views of the ocean, this rooftop restaurant blends social dining with a Mediterranean sensibility. Expect wood- and charcoal-fired dishes, handmade semolina pasta, and a menu rooted in seasonality and simplicity.

“Figo is a love letter to the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, translated through the natural beauty of Cape Town and particularly the Atlantic Seaboard,” says Kovensky. “The open kitchen, wood-fired oven, and fresh pasta station invites guests into the theatre of cooking, while panoramic views and the airy interior transport them to a Mediterranean state of mind.”

Boutique Style and Wellness Serenity

True to the Kove ethos of holistic luxury, The Cole features Boutique Marly, the group’s second boutique location on the Atlantic Seaboard. Guests can shop from 24 curated designer brands showcasing resort wear, swimwear, and accessories — the perfect edit for a coastal escape. Kove Collection continues to shape the future of luxury hospitality in South Africa. Its ever-growing portfolio — including The Marly, The Alphen, and an array of restaurants and spas — reflects a vision of curated, world-class experiences that capture the essence of Cape Town.

For rejuvenation, The Cole’s Urban Spa offers a modern wellness experience complete with sauna, cold plunge pool, a couple’s treatment room, and signature hot slab therapies — ideal for restoring balance after exploring the city.

The Cole is not just a hotel; it’s a story of modern coastal living — where design, dining, and discovery meet in one of the world’s most iconic cities.

The Long Way Home: Our Top Three SUVs to Consider in 2026

There’s a particular kind of silence that settles over the bushveld just before sunset. The air cools, the dust hangs golden and somewhere in the distance a fish eagle calls across a dam fringed with fever trees. It’s in moments like these that South Africans remember why we drive the vehicles we do. In 2026, three new SUVs – the iCAUR 03T, Mitsubishi Destinator and LEPAS L4 – arrive on local soil with a shared promise: to take families, explorers and urban adventurers further, more comfortably and with greater confidence than ever before.

What South Africans will be Eating, Drinking, and Leaving Behind in 2026

In the first few months of 2026, a clearer sense of what we actually want to eat, drink, and gather around emerges. Not what went viral. Not what photographed well for three weeks. But what endured, what exhausted us, and what is quietly inching its way onto menus and into our homes. In South Africa, this reckoning feels especially sharp. The cost of living has narrowed our appetite for novelty-for-novelty’s sake. Diners are cautious, more deliberate, and increasingly value- and values-driven. What follows are 10 emerging food trends identified by Dineplan that are shaping how – and why – we eat now.
