The renowned athletic brand, Under Armour opened the doors to its new house in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre over the weekend. Under Armour is known for innovation and high-tech performance footwear and apparel. They unveiled their refreshed and reimagined store at Menlyn Mall in Pretoria on 16 September.
A diverse group of Under Armour athletes, as well as various high-profile guests embarked on a 5km run to kick off the event. There was a specific focus on the latest Under Armour collections like the Journey To Compete men’s and women’s collection. This included an emphasis on high-impact bras for women and base layers for men. In addition to the run, there were also exclusive training pods with an immersive experience, highlighting Under Armour’s dedication to enhancing athletic performance.
Following a good sweat session, Head of Retail, Brent Venter officiated the grand store opening, after which everyone could explore the store. Of course, as the brand prides itself in being different, the ribbon cutting ceremony came in the form of a chain grinding ceremony instead. Venter said: “I’m sure that you’ll agree that this new space epitomises our efforts to inspire and delight our athletes with a powerful assortment of premium technical products to service their performance needs.”
As part of the unveiling of their new house, paralympian and Under Armour athlete, Ntando Mahlango was also there. In fact, one of the fitting rooms has been dedicated to him and he was there to sign the wall with his favourite quote. The quote, which he says kept him going through Covid, reads: “When we are free to move, anything is possible.”
Under Armour is all about helping athletes to level up. The Menlyn store concept features performance products across popular co-gender training and running collections. These include RUSH, Iso-Chill, HOVR, FLOW and more.
Ultimately, each new store is an opportunity to push athletes further – like they pushed the attendees of the event – showing them what it takes to be the best. Of course, with that comes good quality apparel.
For the Under Armour brand, sport has the power to unite, inspire and change the world. The unveiling of their new house, as well as the event that went with it, was proof of exactly that. Their slogan, “Protect This House” instils pride and determination and it represents their commitment to pushing the limits, achieving greatness and embracing unity, teamwork and trust.
