Vivari Hotel & Spa is Joburg’s very own utopia
Practically on the border of the Cradle of Humankind lies Mogale City’s very own little Utopia, complete with a hotel, restaurant, spa, aesthetic clinic, event venues and even its own on-site hospital.
The initial idea behind Vivari Hotel and Spa was to bring a one-of-a-kind destination to those visiting the country for medical reasons. Medical tourism has increasingly become a trend globally, and Vivari was one of the firsts to tap into that, making it the first of its kind in South Africa, but also on the continent.
The high-end property offers day visitors, tourists and patients alike the opportunity to truly make time for themselves. Here, me-time and selfcare are priority and no one will judge you for it. In fact, at Vivari Hotel and Spa that is what it’s all about.
Vivari Aesthetics Institute of Surgical Excellence
Vivari Aesthetics is based just above Vivari Spa, boasting a state-of-the-art hospital offering a variety of plastic surgery options in combination with Vivari Aftercare, where patients can recover in a relaxed, yet customised and monitored environment. Treatments range from rhinoplasty (nose jobs), breast and buttock augmentation and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to liposuction and labiaplasty (vaginal rejuvenation). This is the ideal solution for those who can’t really afford the downtime (like celebrities and businesspeople) who want to get through the procedure and healing process in record time, while feeling fabulous and rested at the same time.
The hospital also has a Renuvion machine (one of the latest skin tightening devices) and they offer on-site hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy to help with post-op recovery. Furthermore, the spa also has a hand in helping patients recover faster.
Vivari Spa
Vivari Spa is not only the most tranquil environment on the property, but they also offer manual lymphatic drainage and other treatments to patients from Vivari Aesthetics, assisting them with the post-op healing process.
In addition to that, you can spend much of your day exploring the spa’s fit lab and health food studio. In addition to that, all spa and hotel guests have access to the hydrotherapy suite, which includes a steam room, an ice fountain, a heated vitality pool and an infrared sauna cabin.
The spa also offers two to three-day retreats, which include your hotel stay, health and wellness consultations and more. Or, just pop in for a mani or a pedi. The spa therapists here are all very professional and well qualified and Tracey Mataboge in particular will effortlessly tell you whether you’re due for a detox merely by running her fingers across your feet’s pressure points.
Vivari Hotel
At a destination like Vivari, there are various facets that form part of the experience. Justifiably, accommodation is one of them and with that, Vivari Hotel also boasts rather good value for money. All the rooms are elegantly decorated, with only the finest, luxurious touches in the form of velvet couches, marble tiles and gold-plated rims and trims. Of course, the Crown Suite takes the cake and porter, Kagiso Tlhakanye, can confirm. With a large living room area, a raised bedroom, a walk-in closet and a bath overlooking the lush hotel gardens and the beautiful swimming pool, this suite is certainly fit for royalty.
Vivari hotel’s restaurant, Brambles is located just above the terraced gardens, with large glass windows also offering beautiful views across the gardens. At night, the restaurant’s various shapes, sizes and colours of lights add to the already marvellous peacock theme, accentuating the royal blue hues.
Vivari has also recently launched a poolside restaurant and bar, offering a more casual dining setting with delicious pizzas from their pizza oven. (This might come in handy when you’re planning a year-end celebration – just saying).
Conferencing & events
While Brambles offers guests the opportunity to utilise their private dining rooms for events and meetings, Vivari Hotel and Spa also has various conferencing facilities, with some catering for up to 200 guests cocktail-style. Most of their event venues allow for festivities to take place outside – a must in a post-Covid world. And, come Christmas and New Year, they’re promising lots of dining and dancing, so keep your eyes open and your ears on the ground.
Bookings for year-end functions and celebrations are streaming in and space is limited, so if you want to secure a booking, you will need to make that call sooner than later. Prices start from R750 per person and accommodation rates start at R3000 per room, including breakfast and a complimentary mini bar on arrival.
