Olympus Sandton Athena and Apollo Towers

In a city defined by ambition and ever-evolving skylines, a new development is preparing to claim its place at the very top – quite literally.

Perched at the highest point of the Sandton Summit precinct, Olympus Sandton promises to introduce a bold new mixed-use development, luxury residences, hospitality experiences and everyday conveniences exist seamlessly within a single vertical community. It will be a precinct built around connectivity, walkability and modern city living.

Developed by Growthpoint Properties in partnership with Tricolt Group, a ceremonial groundbreaking on 26 February 2026 signalled the next phase in the evolution of one of South Africa’s most dynamic urban nodes. They are aiming to reshape both the skyline and the lifestyle of South Africa’s financial capital.

Market interest has already been strong. Since launching in February 2025, more than 85% of the apartments have been sold, with sales exceeding R1.4 billion. Therefore, the development reflects the growing appetite for places where residents can live, work and socialise within a single environment.

Two Towers Above the City

Olympus Sandton will consist of 527 apartments spread across two striking sculptural towers – The Athena and The Apollo.

Rising 33 storeys and 24 storeys respectively, the towers are designed to sit prominently within the Sandton skyline while offering residents sweeping views over the financial district. The design combines contemporary architecture with lifestyle-focused planning, positioning the development as both a residential address and a social destination.

Expansive views over the Sandton skyline, thoughtfully designed communal spaces and resort-style amenities will shape a living experience that feels both connected to the city and elevated above it.

The project will include a boutique hotel and restaurant by Marble Group, resort-style leisure facilities, landscaped sky gardens and elevated communal spaces are planned to bring moments of calm and community into an otherwise fast-paced urban environment. Olympus Sandton creates a sanctuary in the sky while remaining firmly rooted in the energy of Johannesburg richest square mile.

Hospitality in the Sky

A defining feature of Olympus Sandton is its hospitality-driven approach. The development will incorporate a signature dining and entertainment offering from the team behind Marble Restaurant, bringing a sky bar and destination restaurant to the upper levels of the building.

At street level, residents and visitors will also find a Pantry by Marble deli and coffee shop, designed as a neighbourhood gathering point within the precinct.

David Higgs, Head Chef at Marble Restaurant: “Our group ethos has always been ‘For Jozi’. This has been a project in the making for over two years. And what is significant about this year is that Marble Group is 10 years old. The thing we love about thus project is the complete joining of the dots – Marble has always been about creating experiences and that is what Olympus Sandton is about too. We are taking 30 rooms to create the Marble Experience, creating comfortable luxury that is like coming home.”

Building a City within a City

Olympus Sandton forms part of the broader Sandton Summit precinct, an ambitious urban development strategy by Growthpoint Properties. They envision is as a vibrant mixed-use district where people can live, work and connect within a safe, walkable, integrated environment.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Growthpoint CEO Estienne de Klerk described the Olympus Sandton project as the culmination of years of planning and collaboration.

“This development has been many years in the making,” he said, noting that Sandton Summit stretches across a large section of Sandton’s urban core. “The vision has always been to create a precinct where residents can seamlessly integrate their professional and personal lives.”

The area is already home to major corporate headquarters, including the offices of leading South African companies, and continues to grow as a destination for business, lifestyle and residential living.

In a city where time and traffic often dictate daily rhythms, developments like Olympus reflect a growing desire for urban living that prioritises proximity, convenience and quality of life.

A Response to Changing City Living

While some residential developments in Sandton have struggled to gain traction in the past, Olympus Sandton appears to be tapping into a new wave of demand for thoughtfully designed urban homes.

The success of early sales, according to De Klerk, highlights a shift in how people want to live in major cities. Olympus Sandton has already generated R1.4-billion in sales, reflecting the strength of developments that combine residential offerings with lifestyle amenities and proximity to workplaces, retail and entertainment.

Olympus aims to offer residents a complete lifestyle experience – one where daily life unfolds within a vibrant urban ecosystem. For residents, this means having everything from dining to coffee to fitness to social scenes within easy reach, creating an environment where daily life feels less fragmented.

The Grandest Scale

Behind the elegant design and multifaceted lifestyle offerings lies a project of considerable scale.

Construction on the project is already well underway, with significant groundwork taking place ahead of piling scheduled for mid-March 2026.  This marks the next stage in the development’s journey from its blueprint to a skyline landmark.

The scale of the development is substantial. Earthworks alone involve the removal of over 4,000 cubic metres of soil – roughly equivalent to 17 Olympic swimming pools. The build will require approximately 28,000 cubic metres of concrete and more than 1.7 million bricks, alongside extensive glass façades that will maximise natural light and define the towers’ contemporary aesthetic.

These figures underscore the ambition of a project designed not only to reshape the skyline but to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of Sandton’s urban core.

The Vision Behind Olympus

Olympus Sandton represents a partnership between two prominent players in South Africa’s property sector – Growthpoint Properties and Tricolt Group.

The project brings together Growthpoint’s experience in large-scale precinct development with Tricolt’s expertise in high-end residential living.

“This partnership will only continue to grow stronger as we continue to share values of passion, integrity and excellence. The excitement I feel is similar to a kid building LEGO, especially as I think about the next two years when we will be building The Athena and The Apollo towers on the highest, and the best, site of Sandton."

A New Address on the Sandton Skyline

As construction progresses and the towers begin to rise, Olympus Sandton is poised to become one of the most prominent new addresses in the city.

More than just a luxury residence, Olympus Sandton represents a broader shift in how cities are designed – where architecture, hospitality and lifestyle converge to create spaces that are as much about experience as they are about residence.

When complete, Olympus will not only introduce a new residential offering to Sandton but also add another defining landmark to Johannesburg’s ever-evolving skyline. It will stand as a reminder that life can unfold high above the city whilst remaining intimately connected to its roots.
