Mental Health Mindfulness from Momentum Multiply

Stress has become synonymous with life in today’s fast paced world. Work, family and other responsibilities can be overwhelming and often take a toll on our mental and physical health. Momentum Multiply analysed recent data that indicated mental health disorders in society are on the rise. Furthermore, the study showed that more than 27% of the South African population suffer from depression.

However, whilst stress is inevitable, managing the severity of its impact on your mental health can decrease its other adverse effects physiologically. Momentum Multiply tells how self-care activities have numerous benefits. Self-care improves your mood, reduces anxiety, enhances physical health, boosts mental clarity and promotes better relationships. They, therefore, have five self-care tips they recommend tries at least once:

1. Practice Mindfulness

Self-care activities such as yoga and meditation are some techniques that are used to reduce stress and promote relaxation. In doing these activities, you calm your mind and body, allowing the feelings of stress and worry to fade away.

2. Prioritise Sleep

Often overlooked but crucial to reducing stress, Momentum Multiply recommends learning to prioritise sleep. Our bodies need to rest, recharge and reboot in order to function properly. Getting enough sleep is the first step towards reducing daily stress levels. Another step is to establish a regular sleep routine to establish quality sleep levels.

3. Limit Stressors

Each person lives a different life, so one person’s stressors may be vastly different to the next. You will need to identify the things that trigger stress the most in your life and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

4. Pause to Recharge

You cannot be on the go all the time, nor can you burn the candle at both ends. Taking shorts breaks can help to improve productivity and reduce stress levels. Use these breaks to listen to music, read a chapter of a book, or take a walk in nature.

5. Embrace a Balanced Diet

Filling your plate with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats goes a long way. A balanced diet is a wonderful way to take care of both your physical and mental health. You will be more energised, more able to cope with things, and therefore, experience less stress.

Momentum Multiply firmly believes that by prioritising self-care activities in your daily routine, you will strengthen resilience, enhance your ability to navigate challenges, boost you overall wellbeing and foster a happier and healthier life.
