Few sounds carry South African history quite like the harmonies of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. On 14 August 2026, the five-time Grammy-winning group will bring its distinctive isicathamiya tradition into conversation with a full symphony orchestra—and five Hello Lifestyle readers could be there.

Isicathamiya Meets The Symphonic Tradition

Classics on Turf returns to Durban for its second season with a performance celebrating the meeting point between South Africa’s musical traditions.

Under conductor and music curator Kutlwano Masote, Ladysmith Black Mambazo will join the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra at The Capital Zimbali. Masote has created new orchestrations that reflect the group’s contemporary sound while preserving the harmonies that have made it one of South Africa’s most recognisable musical exports.

The concert forms part of Classics on Turf’s wider programme connecting music, lifestyle and sport. Earlier in the day, golf enthusiasts will take to Kloof Country Club before attention shifts to the evening performance at Zimbali.
