The New Renault Duster Turns the Cape Town–Hermanus Road Trip Into an Adventure
We drive the new Renault Duster from Cape Town to Hermanus and explore its performance, technology, safety, pricing and adventurous character.
The Hollywoodbets Durban July has always been about far more than horse racing. For many, it’s South Africa’s biggest celebration of fashion, music, food and culture, where the social calendar reaches its most glamorous moment of the year.
Among the many hospitality destinations surrounding Greyville Racecourse, few have generated as much anticipation in recent years as Njalos by Makubenjalo. Returning for the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July, the experience once again promises a carefully curated blend of luxury hospitality, South African music and contemporary lifestyle, cementing its place as one of the weekend’s most sought-after destinations.
The countdown officially began this past weekend when Makubenjalo, together with long-standing partners Martell and OMODA, unveiled this year’s entertainment programme at an exclusive launch event in Soweto.
This year’s entertainment line-up reads like a celebration of South African music itself.
Headlining the festivities are Kabza De Small, Kwesta, DJ Sox, Uncool MC, DJ Bongz, Leehleza, Vetkoek vs Mahoota, DJ Stokie and DJ Amanda, while legendary kwaito pioneers Boom Shaka are set to deliver one of the day’s standout performances.
Rather than focusing on a single genre, the programme has been curated to reflect the evolving soundtrack of South Africa, blending amapiano, house, hip hop and nostalgic classics that will carry guests from the first champagne toast of the afternoon through to the official afterparty long after the final race has been run.
As always, guests can also expect to rub shoulders with some of the country’s biggest celebrities, media personalities, tastemakers and fashion influencers, adding to the electric atmosphere that has become synonymous with Njalos.
While music provides the soundtrack, Njalos has steadily built its reputation around the complete experience.
Guests can expect gourmet dining throughout the day, bespoke Martell cocktails inspired by this year’s theme, premium hospitality, luxury seating areas, VIP service and exclusive access to the official afterparty. Every detail has been designed to encourage guests to slow down, socialise and fully immerse themselves in one of South Africa’s most iconic lifestyle events.
This year’s Country Allure theme brings together rural inspiration and contemporary luxury, celebrating South African heritage through sophisticated styling, elevated design and memorable hospitality experiences.
Returning alongside Makubenjalo are Martell and OMODA, continuing a partnership that has become closely associated with modern South African luxury experiences.
Speaking at the launch, Dudu Mokholo, Chief Marketing Officer for Africa and the Middle East at Pernod Ricard, described the collaboration as a celebration of confidence, culture and local creativity.
“Makubenjalo has created more than a premium destination. It has created a cultural signature — bold, proudly South African, and impossible to miss. Together, Martell and Makubenjalo are bringing audacity, elegance and distinction to Africa’s most iconic race day.”
As the countdown to the Hollywoodbets Durban July continues, Njalos once again looks set to be one of Greyville’s defining destinations, bringing together world-class entertainment, exceptional hospitality and the unmistakable energy that has made Durban July one of South Africa’s most anticipated annual celebrations.
The Hollywoodbets Durban July has evolved into something far greater than a day at the races. It has become a celebration of South African creativity, where fashion, food, music and hospitality share the spotlight with the thoroughbreds on the track. If you’re planning to experience Durban July this year, Njalos should be high on your list. Between the carefully curated entertainment, premium hospitality and vibrant atmosphere, it captures everything that makes this weekend one of the country’s most iconic lifestyle events.
