Umhlanga’s property market has delivered another headline-grabbing moment. Radisson Serviced Apartments Umhlanga sold 97 sectional-title apartments within three hours of its online launch on 15 August 2026.

The original plan was to release just 40 apartments. Every one sold within four and a half minutes.

With buyers still active on the Markt platform, the development released another 57 units in smaller batches. By midday, all 97 apartments had been secured.

A South African First for Radisson

The development is set to become South Africa’s first Radisson-branded serviced-apartment project of its kind. It will feature 183 apartments and is scheduled to open in 2029.

Unlike a conventional residential development, buyers will own sectional-title apartments within a professionally managed hospitality property. The concept combines private ownership with the operating platform of an international hotel brand.

The launch was also KwaZulu-Natal’s first fully online property development release, according to the developers.

More Apartments Coming to The Marker Soon

A further 40 apartments are due to be released through Markt on 27 August 2026, with prices starting from R1.89 million.

Studios begin at 29m², while one-bedroom units include an open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. The sectional-title apartments attract no transfer duty on acquisition.

Strong launch-day sales make a compelling headline, but property remains a long-term commitment. Interested buyers should study the management agreement, levies, projected returns and associated costs before signing on the digital dotted line.
