South Africa’s biggest padel week has arrived in Pretoria, and five Hello Lifestyle readers could experience the action from inside SunBet Arena.
The Pretoria Premier Padel P1 is serving up eight days of fast rallies, ambitious local talent and some of the world’s finest professional players at Time Square from 26 July to 2 August 2026. It is the first professional Premier Padel tournament staged in Sub-Saharan Africa, giving South African fans the rare chance to watch the international game unfold on home soil.
Local favourites Adam van Harte, Richard Ashforth, Luan Krige, Warren Kuhn, Debbie van Aswegen and Marné Roos are among the South African players stepping onto court. Wildcard winners Linge Steenkamp and Zoë Kruger also join the field, alongside 15-year-old Basma Ali—the tournament’s youngest competitor.
That local presence gives the tournament a welcome edge. This is not merely a touring sporting spectacle dropping into town, collecting its luggage and leaving again. It is an opportunity for South African players and supporters to measure themselves against the sport’s global standard.
The experience extends beyond the matches. Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Lebo Mokoena lead the entertainment programme alongside DJ Nick Explicit, official mascot Moyà and the Vibe Squad.
Finals weekend turns up the volume with DJ Maphorisa on Friday, Timo ODV on Saturday, and Chrizz Beatz and the Mzansi Youth Choir on Sunday. In other words, expect a sporting event with enough festival energy to keep the non-padel obsessive entertained too.
Padel moves quickly on screen, but it makes considerably more sense from the stands, where the speed, reflexes and geometry of each point become impossible to ignore. Enter the giveaway or secure your preferred session through Ticketmaster before the final ball is served.
ESPN is carrying the tournament across Sub-Saharan Africa from 27 July to 2 August, with selected closing-stage coverage also scheduled on Red Bull TV.
