The Ephraim Mohlakane U14 Basketball Tournament returns to St Benedict’s College from 19 to 21 September 2026, bringing three days of competitive basketball, school spirit and community engagement to the school’s world-class courts.
Following the success of its inaugural tournament in 2025, the second annual edition will welcome 24 teams from 21 schools across Southern Africa, with U14 and U18 fixtures taking place throughout the weekend. More than 40 referees will oversee the action, while more than 1,200 spectators are expected on campus each day.
The tournament brings together some of the region’s leading schools, including Kearsney College, Hilton College, Maritzburg College, Jeppe High School for Boys, King Edward VII School, St John’s College, St Peter’s College, Westville Boys’ High School and SAHETI School, among others.
Named in honour of Mr Ephraim Mohlakane, the tournament celebrates his enduring commitment to sport and the St Benedict’s community. His belief in sport as a vehicle for discipline, opportunity and personal development remains at the heart of the event.
The 2026 edition also expands the tournament programme with U18 fixtures, providing an additional platform for developing young players while strengthening connections between schools and basketball communities across South Africa and the region.
With talented young athletes, passionate supporters and three days of high-level school basketball, the Ephraim Mohlakane U14 Basketball Tournament promises an exciting weekend on and off the court.
