For the estimated 100,000-plus South Africans now living in the UAE—many of them based in Dubai—a visit from home is about more than sightseeing. It is airport reunions, long-overdue conversations and attempting to explain to visiting relatives that Dubai is considerably more than skyscrapers and shopping centres.
Now, those reunions could cost a little less.
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has launched A Dubai Invite, a new programme recognising the city’s diverse resident community as its most convincing group of ambassadors.
Dubai residents can register family members or friends visiting between 20 July and 31 October 2026, unlocking exclusive benefits across participating hotels, attractions, restaurants and transport services.
Accommodation offers include discounts of up to 45% and resort credits equivalent to the room rate at selected properties. Participating hotels include W Dubai Mina Seyahi, The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Waterpark, Meliá Desert Palm and ME Dubai, alongside properties within the IHG Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
Visitors and their Dubai-based hosts can also access benefits at attractions such as Aquaventure Waterpark, IMG Worlds of Adventure and Grand Hyatt Waterpark.
Participating restaurants include Asia Asia, Ula, Papas, The 305 and Lock, Stock & Barrel. Careem is adding complimentary Careem Plus membership and rebates on Hala Taxi and selected services.
Residents must register their guests by 30 September 2026. Arrivals will be verified through a process supported by Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs. Each resident can unlock up to three verified benefits, limited to one benefit per visiting party.
Although guest travel must take place during the campaign period, unlocked offers remain redeemable until 31 December 2026.
If you have family or friends living in Dubai, speak to them before booking the finer details of your visit. A Dubai Invite could make the difference between merely passing through the city and enjoying considerably more of it together.
Full details and registration are available on the official A Dubai Invite platform.
