There is something reassuring about a hotel that understands exactly what travellers need: a comfortable room, genuinely warm service and a location that does not turn every meeting, meal or outing into a logistical expedition.

That dependable combination has earned the Centurion Hotel the title of Hotel of the Year at the Tshwane Tourism Association’s 2026 Tshwane Tourism Awards, held on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

The annual awards recognise the businesses and individuals helping to grow Tshwane’s visitor economy while raising the standard of hospitality across the city.

A Longstanding Centurion Landmark

Established by Legacy Hotels & Resorts in 1991, the Centurion Hotel has spent more than three decades serving business travellers, conference delegates, sports fans, families and weekend visitors.

“We are incredibly proud to receive the Hotel of the Year award,” says Hara Jackson, Sales Director of Legacy Hotels & Resorts.

“For us, hospitality is about much more than providing a place to stay. It is about making guests feel welcome, providing attentive service and creating a reliable home base from which they can experience everything that Centurion and Tshwane have to offer.”

Jackson says the award acknowledges the dedication of the hotel’s entire team. That team is led by General Manager Kamala Douglas, whose leadership and focus on consistent service have helped shape the guest experience for which the property is known.

A Hotel Connected to the City

Location is one of the Centurion Hotel’s greatest strengths. Positioned between Johannesburg and Pretoria, it offers convenient access to the N1 highway and is approximately 500 metres from the Centurion Gautrain Station.

SuperSport Park is also within easy reach, while guests can access Centurion Mall directly from the hotel grounds. This puts shops, restaurants and entertainment close at hand without requiring another trip in the car.

Its proximity to one of South African cricket’s best-known grounds has given the hotel a strong sporting personality. A large graffiti mural celebrating prominent South African athletes appears along its perimeter wall, with further sporting artwork and memorabilia displayed throughout the property.

It is a refreshing change from the anonymous corridors and beige artwork that too often pass for personality in business hotels.

Built for Business, Sport and Weekend Stays

Rooms overlook either the hotel’s pool deck or SuperSport Park and offer the essentials required for both productive business trips and relaxed leisure stays. These include high-speed Wi-Fi, workstations, air conditioning, and tea and coffee facilities.

The hotel is also well equipped for meetings, training sessions, conferences and functions. Its position near both the Gautrain and the N1 makes it particularly practical when delegates are travelling from different parts of Gauteng—or flying into OR Tambo International Airport.

A newly designed lounge adds another useful layer for remote workers, with work pods, charging stations and high-speed connectivity. Guests can also use the outdoor pool, pool deck and on-site gym.

Italian Influence at Brunos Restaurant

Brunos Restaurant anchors the hotel’s food and beverage experience with an approachable menu that has recently incorporated more refined Italian-inspired elements.

The restaurant is named after Bruno Corte, one of the founders of Legacy Hotels & Resorts, and draws on his Italian heritage and the values of generosity and hospitality that helped shape the hotel group.

Together, the dining, leisure and business facilities allow the Centurion Hotel to serve several kinds of traveller without losing sight of its central purpose: providing a comfortable and convenient base from which to experience Tshwane.

With the Gautrain, SuperSport Park, Centurion Mall and the N1 all close by, the Centurion Hotel makes a particularly sensible base for business trips, cricket weekends and short Gauteng getaways. The Hotel of the Year award may belong to the property, but it is ultimately a celebration of the people who make travellers feel welcome once they walk through the door.

Editor’s note: The award announcement was supplied by Legacy Hotels & Resorts. Current hotel facilities and selected location details were cross-checked against the official Centurion Hotel directory, while the Tshwane Tourism Association’s 2026 communications confirm the annual awards programme.
