Celebrate the spirit of kindness this Mandela Day at Hyde Park Corner as the Yarn by Design Expo transforms Centre Court into a spectacular celebration of creativity, community and compassion.
Running from 18 to 30 July, the free exhibition marks the 10th anniversary of the Secret Scarves Shh… campaign by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day with what is believed to be the world’s largest handmade scarf chandelier.
Visitors can admire three beautifully curated living spaces designed by Cabbages & Roses, decorated with handcrafted scarves and bespoke blankets created by the talented Gauteng KnitWits of 67 Blankets. Suspended above the installation, the breathtaking scarf chandelier symbolises a decade of warmth, generosity and hope.
The Yarn by Design Expo is more than a visual display—it’s an opportunity to get involved. Shoppers are encouraged to knit, crochet or donate handmade scarves and blankets to support 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, helping to keep those in need warm during winter. A wool retailer will also be on-site, making it easy to purchase supplies to donate or begin your own handmade creation.
