Experience an afternoon of evocative orchestral music as the University of Pretoria Symphonic Winds presents UPSO Concert 4: The Blue Hour at Musaion on Sunday, 6 September 2026.

Conducted by Lesedi Sibanda, the concert takes inspiration from the brief period of twilight between darkness and light, exploring themes of transition, renewal, love, loss and hope through a captivating programme of contemporary and classical works.

The programme opens with John Mackey’s Hymn to a Blue Hour, followed by Alfred Reed’s The Hounds of Spring, Mickey Nicolas’ Brazilian Suite and Akito Matsuda’s Suite from Liz and the Blue Bird. The performance moves from reflective and atmospheric passages to vibrant Brazilian rhythms before concluding with a poignant exploration of friendship, separation and hope.
