Meet the people behind the stories, strategy and daily hustle at Hello Lifestyle. From content creation and social media to partnerships, publishing and everything in between, our team keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes. Here’s a quick Q&A to get to know the personalities, passions and favourite moments that shape the brand every day.
Your go-to weekend activity once the weather cools?
Once the chill sets in, I’m all about picking up the tempo with a long run or bike ride. I’m crushing on The Cycle Shed @Kloofzicht as my go-to place on a Sunday morning, as they have a great coffee shop, showers and bike storage. It’s conveniently situated right on Kromdraai in the Cradle of Humankind.
Where’s your regular coffee stop after a morning outdoors?
I usually end up at Vice Coffee Shop in Craighall Park for a solid cortado and a quick reset. It’s close enough to my usual running and walking routes, and the vibe is relaxed enough to ease into the rest of the day.
Your favourite autumn escape with the kids – where are you going?
If we’re escaping the city, it’s Dalmore Guest Farm in the Drakensberg, every time. Wide-open spaces, views for days and plenty to keep Jaxon and Summer busy, which means I get a pocket of stillness too.
A local spot you’re recommending right now?
Nine Yards in Parktown North is top of my list at the moment. The incredible gardens, the energy, the food, the whole experience – it’s an easy yes for a relaxed afternoon or a catch-up with friends.
Where do you go for a cosy lunch?
Either the Eatery at Winshaw Vineyards in Stellenbosch – a hidden gem on a boutique winery – or The Vine Bistro at Glenelly. Their robust reds paired with French dishes on a rainy afternoon always hit the spot.
Your autumn wine of choice – and where you’re drinking it?
Right now it’s the Arum Special Séries Mourvèdre – full-bodied, fruit-forward and developed by Jennifer Hugé, beverage director of the FYN Group, in collaboration with Boschendal. I love sipping it settled into one of the leather booths in Arum’s bar area.
One Winelands destination that defines autumn for you?
Maison Estate, without a doubt. Wine tasting followed by lunch in the garden at Chefs Warehouse comes with uninterrupted views of the surrounding Franschhoek Valley – vineyards glowing in autumn colour, seasonal dishes on the table and that crisp mountain air setting the scene.
A beauty ritual or treatment you lean into as the season shifts?
Autumn is when I book massages on repeat – cooler days call for deeper resets. I love a bespoke treatment at the spa inside the new Spier Hotel, where they tailor each session to exactly what your body needs. When I want something more immersive, Cape Herbal Bath House is a true indulgence.
The book on your bedside table right now?
The Invisible Boy from Bramble Way by Anwar McKay has been my late-night companion lately. It traces his journey from a tough childhood in the Cape Flats through to creative success, unpacking themes of belonging, resilience and self-discovery along the way.
A local stay that feels extra special once the leaves start turning?
Camissa Farm, tucked into the Banhoek Valley near Stellenbosch and just under an hour from Cape Town. It’s comfortable, private and framed by beautiful mountain scenery, making it an easy escape from the city that still feels worlds away.
The Cape Town spot you enjoy once the city calms down?
When things slow down, I love wandering through evening markets around town or heading out to the Winelands. On quieter days, long walks along the Constantia Green Belt are hard to beat – cool air, leafy paths and just enough nature to reset your headspace.
A venue that feels made for autumn events?
The Range Function and Conference Venue in Tokai ticks every box. With flexible indoor-outdoor areas and a beautifully rustic Log Cabin complete with a crackling hearth, it creates an intimate, welcoming setting that’s ideal for gatherings during the cooler season.
