The best destination in Joburg to relax, unwind and let your wild side free
The restaurant has been open since 2021 and it is well known for its funky style, cheeky nature and fun-filled atmosphere. The Wild Side in Craighall Park is arguably the best destination in the city to relax, unwind and let your wild side free.
With furniture and décor right off the pages of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, one would be forgiven for thinking they’ve just fallen down the rabbit hole. The multiple indoor dining areas all open up onto a stunning central courtyard, which sets the scene for the perfect afternoon lunch with a delicious cocktail or glass of bubbles in hand.
The menu is extensive with options for all palates, including several vegetarian dishes to satisfy any pickie guest, plus a few revamped comfort classics. We highly recommend trying their falafel platter with hummus, oven-roasted chickpeas and flatbread, or try the salmon fishcake served with pickled ginger salsa and lemon dill crème fraiche. If you’ve arrived a little hungry, head on over to the mighty mains section of the menu and try The Beast. This dish consists of a beef fillet, served with red cabbage and fennel slaw, creamy Dijon sauce and French fries.
The Wild Side is also renowned for its uniquely delicious cocktails. One we just can’t get enough of is the Walk on the Wild Side, which consists of Havana 7 Rum with pureed kiwi and freshly squeezed pineapple, topped with strawberry juice and burnt aged rum. YUM! For the wilder cocktail enthusiast, we recommend the Vanilla Sunset, which is a short drink of Absolut Vodka twisted with sherry, shaken with vanilla honey and topped with ginger ale.
