Our top 4 pet-friendly spots in the Cape
Lets get those tails wagging because as we all know, many South Africans love to travel with their furry friends. Pet owners are simply unwilling to leave their four-legged children at home and we firmly believe they don’t have to.
Here are our top four pet-friendly holiday accommodation spots:
Villa One @ Sky & Cottage
When you visit Plettenberg Bay, make sure you and Rufus visit the Raw Africa Boutique Collection – a privately-owned hotel group with a collection of exclusive Western Cape properties. We recommend you go to the self-catering Villa One @ Sky & Cottage. It comes with accommodation for twelve guests in the main house, and two guests in the cottage.
Villa One @ Sky guests also have access to all Sky Villa Boutique Hotel’s facilities. There are a few house rules for guests with pets, though. Understandably, they only allow small to medium-sized dogs that are house-trained and up to date with all their annual shots.
Pet-friendly accommodation at Gonana Guesthouse
In addition, if you and fluffy want to travel to Paternoster, one of the oldest fishing villages along the Cape West Coast, visit the sustainable, eco-conscious Gonana Guesthouse. We love the location on Bekbaai Beach, with beautiful rooms and dog-friendly accommodation. Essentially, this makes it the perfect getaway destination for families with pooches. Also, it boasts luxurious, contemporary accommodation and they even have one self-catering unit – The Studio – and two self-catering cottages.
Gonana allows socialised small-medium breeds of dogs. Hence, your well-behaved four-legged kids are welcome, as are well-behaved kids over the age of 12, if you stay at the Guesthouse.
Montagu Country Hotel
You’ll easily fall in love with the charming four-star Montagu Country Hotel in Montagu – a comfortable driving distance from Cape Town.
This is the perfect destination for a family-with-pet getaway, because pets stay for free. Also, they have access to the lovely gardens. The hotel allows small-medium breeds of socialised and well-behaved dogs. Pet owners just need to bring their own dog food, bowls and bedding.
Stay at Supertubes Guest House
There’s nothing you and your best friend wouldn’t love about this holiday spot. It is gorgeous and just a few metres away from the beautiful beach front. Furthermore, it’s just 30 metres from Jeffreys Bay’s world-famous surfing beach. This Eastern Cape accommodation option is so luxurious. Here you have access to your own room in the guesthouse, or its self-catering apartments. 11 Pepper (Supertubes Apartment) comes with three en suite rooms, while 16 Pepper (‘Khaya Zinza’) has five.
Small to medium dogs that are house-trained, well behaved and socialised are welcome here. However, only one dog is allowed per apartment. Also, note that the properties are not enclosed.
