Two Cape Town Restaurants Make The World’s 50 Best Cut
On Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 in a grand ceremony held in Valencia, Spain, the eagerly awaited “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” for 2023 were unveiled. Over 1,000 culinary experts formed a panel that deliberated on the deserving winners—a significant increase from the modest number of opinions gathered when the list first emerged a couple of decades ago. The “50 Best” boldly undertook the monumental task of creating a singular ranking system that encompasses the entire restaurant industry, with all its diverse culinary treasures from around the globe. As stated on their “about us” page, “Before this, no one had dared take on the task of including the entire restaurant industry, in all its global diversity, in a single ranking system.”
In its current iteration, the 50 Best has classified our vast and enchanting world into 27 distinct regions. The voters adhere to a meticulous selection process outlined by the organization, which you can explore further on their website.
Fyn Cape Town, which we reviewed on this website in March 2023, won The Flor de Caña Sustainable Restaurant Award and is listed as the 75th best restaurant in the world on their website.
